Objectives

The hermetic cable penetrations through containments in VVER-1000 were of low quality. Therefore the Beneficiary asked to replace them with CIS manufactured Auxitrol-type and -quality ones.
The Russian side was seeking to extend another already existing joint venture with Auxitrol (where parts of penetrations were already manufactured) so that hermetic cable penetrations for VVER-213/1000 could be manufactured there.

The project, which in addition to the TACIS funding, benefitted from various other financial sources, will cover the following areas:

  • Project management activities;
  • Preliminary studies;
  • Equipment acquisition support;
  • Supply the Beneficiary with assistance and support in the purchase,
  • installation and set-up of machinery required to manufacture the penetrations;
  • Equipment installation activities support;
  • Assistance to the Beneficiary and supervision of the activities required for the installation, testing and start-up of new equipment at the factory in Komsomolski;
  • Assistance for obtaining the approval by local authorities;
  • Assistance in obtaining the approval by relevant authorities of the new manufacturing line of ELOX and of the product qualification by GOSATOMNADZOR;
  • Training in equipment operation and maintenance;
  • Transfer of electrical penetration design technology;
  • Training of the Beneficiary’s staff in international applicable regulations, codes and standards;
  • Application of codes and standards to the study and construction of penetrations and of the set of penetrations;
  • Training in control and Quality Assurance;
  • Transfer of penetrations manufacturing know-how;
  • Training in electrical wiring and connection methods;
  • Training in on-site installation activities.
