Objectives

The project deals with general site assistance on Smolensk NPP.
To combine the experience of British Energy experts with that of SNPP experts to allow the realisation of a number of equipment supply projects. These projects are chosen to enhance nuclear and personnel safety at Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant.

Realisation (specification, assistance in implementation) of the following equipment supply projects:

  • R1.05/92A Desna Gomis Phase 2
  • R1.05/94A, 96B1 and 96B2 In-service Inspection
  • R1.05/94B Diagnostics for Electrically Operated Valves
  • R1.05/94D Replacement Safety Valves
  • R1.05/95A Leak-before-Break
  • R1.05/95B Vibration Diagnostics
  • R1.05/95C Diesel Generator Spare Parts and Diagnostic Equipment
  • R1.05/96A Circuit Breakers for Cable Fire Safety
  • R1.05/97AR1.05/97B Emergency Communications System

Results

The generic tasks, carried out, together with SNPP, for each project were:

  • Producing and having approved the Specific Technical Terms of Reference, Technical Specification and Evaluation Criteria;
  • Organising the Evaluation Panel;
  • Carrying out technical and financial assessments of the tenders and producing the report;
  • Advising the PA on the technical aspects of proposed changes in scope of supply;
  • Assisting the End-User and Beneficiary in their dealings with Western suppliers;
  • Attending the works testing;
  • Monitoring progress and reporting;
  • Monitoring the delivery process and acceptance testing;
  • Witnessing the acceptance tests on behalf of the Commission;
  • Providing assistance to the End-User during early use;
  • Advising the PA on technical matters in the event of warranty period disputes;
  • Assistance with equipment Delivery and Customs issues.
