Objectives

RDIPE were developing a Technical Support Centre at the NIKIET site which would provide timely assistance and support to the operation of RBMKs as well as facilitating the assessment of emergency conditions and the prediction of consequences.
This required the provision of extensive computer monitoring and analysis equipment at each NPP, the first of which should be the Leningrad NPP. At NIKIET data transmitted routinely from the NPPs should be received to permit assessment of the actual safety level. The analysis should be performed using modelling and simulation software, much of which was expected to be developed or procured under the terms of this project.
It was intended that the system provided would give early warning of potentially dangerous operating conditions, thereby allowing recommendations for action to be formulated by a Team of Specialists at NIKIET.

Results

The project was given up by EC and Beneficiary since the Contractor and Local Subcontractor could not find an agreement on the terms of their contract.
