Objectives

The present project is an extension of TACIS-91 project 1.4 Probabilistic Safety Analysis. Its main goal is the development of a full scale level 1 PSA for Novovoronezh NPP Unit 3 for internal initiating events with respect to all basic conditions during operation and measures to enhance safety provided by modernization program.
Level 1 PSA for Novovoronezh Unit 3 within project 1.4 of TACIS-91 has been performed for a limited list of initiating events at reactor operation at power using conservative assumptions to define success criteria and modelling of personnel erroneous actions.
It had to be taken into account that during development of Level 1 PSA for Novovoronezh Unit 3 within project 1.4 of TACIS-91 the measurements to enhance safety provided by modernization program which have been implementing were not considered.
The PSA Level 1 was also requested by the safety authority GAN as an integral part of the in-depth safety report to be prepared for Novovoronezh-3. The actual plant status end of 2000 had to be taken into account in the analysis. This has slightly changed the scope of tasks as per TOR.

Results

The objective as outlined above has been achieved successfully.
