Objectives

The objective of the project was to develop the methodology for drafting, checking, reviewing, validating and using all operating procedures. A further aim was to develop a set of new procedures (normal and abnormal operation) in order to improve the operational safety of these plants as quickly as possible, providing know-how transfer thereby allowing all concerned organization in Russia to pursue their relevant activities without external support.

Results

Phase 1

  • Transfer of Western know-how on how to establish procedures;
  • Development of 8 Administrative Procedures;
  • Development of 32 different types of sampling procedures;
  • Russian experts training on Tihange NPP, Vandellos NPP and at the Utilities Tractebel and Technatom (respectively Belgium and Spain);
  • Supply of computer equipment to VNIIAES and Kurchatov Institute.

Phase 2

Development of 72 different procedures for normal operation, abnormal operation, alarm response procedures, line-up procedures, inspection and test procedures.

After getting this experience, Novovoronezh NPP is enabled to develop further procedures beyond this project with a better inherent quality and higher degree of efficiency.
