Objectives

Overall Objectives

The overall objective (Impact) to which the action contributes is to increase the capacity and capabilities of the Turkish nuclear regulator authority, NDK, and bring its safety culture and standards for radiation and nuclear safety more in accord with those in the EU.

Specific Objectives (Outcomes)

The specific objectives are to further develop and improve the End Users':

  • regulatory frameworks for the decommissioning of research reactors and radiation facilities, and for near-surface radioactive waste disposal (Outcome 1)
  • framework for regulating NPP safety (Outcome 2)
  • system of regulatory control for commissioning and early operation of a NPP (Outcome 3)
  • inspection and surveillance of NPP and the transport of radioactive material (Outcome 4)
  • assessment of safety analyses for the transport of radioactive material (Outcome 5)
  • emergency preparedness and response (EP&R) (Outcome 6)
  • regulatory framework for radiation safety (Outcome 7)
