Objectives

The present project was proposed as a result of the Brainstorming meeting held at Garching (Germany) February 2 and 3, 1995 and in full consideration of the safety relevance of the RPV integrity issue.

The main activities to be addressed in this project are:

Definition of the most urgent problems which could be solved by investigating Greifswald samples in addition to plant specific studies carried out so far;
Detailed elaboration of the procedures for cutting the samples;
Definition of geometry, size and position where to cut the samples, including samples from reactor pressure vessel internals;
Preparation of the licensing procedure for samples taking;
Development of a procedure for documentation and handling of samples;
Documentation of the results of former studies on the Greifswald reactors which were exclusively based on small-sized specimens;
Documentation of the operational history of the different reactors, including estimation of fluences of RPVs and internals.

Results

The objective as defined above has been achieved.
