Summary

The objectives that will need to be achieved in further elaborating a national policy and strategy in cooperation with the relevant Chinese authorities and agencies are the following:

  • To perform analysis of different options for the management of radioactive waste and spent fuel;
  • To develop key elements for further elaboration of a national policy on RAW and SNF management (including predisposal and disposal);
  • To enhance the National Strategy for RAW and SNF and prepare its implementation;
  • To transfer EU knowledge and experience in the management of RAW and SNF, without interfering with the responsibilities of the involved Chinese stakeholders.

The project is strictly limited to the elaboration of options and strategies for the management of RAW and SNF in China. In no task or sub-task shall it address technical details of the various waste generation processes, in particular those that may be confidential for whatever reason, including for its commercial value.
