Background

On 15 October 2010, the EC organised the following meeting in Brussels:

EC - Central Asia High Level Meeting on remediation of uranium production legacy sites in Central Asia.

Representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan were invited to the meeting, the main objective of which was to evaluate and plan the activities required for the remediation of uranium mining and milling legacy sites in the region of Central Asia. Several DGs of the EC were also involved in the meeting.

The Instrument for Nuclear Safety Cooperation will finance some of the remediation activities in future programmes.

Objectives

The objective of this small contract was to contribute to the costs of organising the meeting, namely the cost of catering (lunch for 30 participants).

Results

The contract was implemented as specified.
